Sellars Style

• ‘Mystery story’ style:

  • There’s a problem, and many competing potential explanations

  • These explanations engage each other dialectically

  • Only at the end would you learn the philosopher’s actual position

• ‘Journalistic’ style:

  • Tell them what you’re going to tell them

  • Tell them

  • Tell them what you told them

Sellars philosophical style is more the former.
